Novel Sesuk, By Tereliye !
If you read my previous blog, you will know that I borrowed 2 novels from my cousin during Eid al-Fitr yesterday. And now, I want we talk about it!
Like the title of this blog, I borrowed the book 'Sesuk' By Tereliye! Maybe you've heard of this novel, because this novel is the latest published novel that was just released last year! On August 22-2022, to be precise. In addition, the novel 'Sesuk' is also the first novel in the horror genre!
Since it was published last year, I was really-really curious and wanted to read it. I wonder what theme Tereliye wrote for his horror genre debut. and Who can guess? a year later, i came home and found the novel lying on my cousin's bed
To be honest, I finished this book a few weeks ago. But because I'm busy with some school activities (i'm school in smanti, you know?) , so I did't have time to write a blog anymore (sorry). By the way, the fitting will be held in 3 weeks. WISH ME LUCK GUYS! i'm scared....
Back to the topic, let me just tell you at the beginning, so each chapter in this novel is look like a diary. in each chapter there is a day date and month. The point is, this novel is a collection of diaries from the main character.
so, at the beginning of the novel, it is told that there is a family, consist of 5 people. There are father (lest call him just 'father') , who is a businessman (?) who owns many stalls in the capital. The second is the mother (yes, just call her 'mother') , who is a famous singer and actor in Indonesia. No less busy than his father, his mother often gave concerts and shoot films. This made her three children less affectionate. The main character of this novel is the eldest child, named is gadis (grade 6 sd). Then his younger brother, named Bagus (tk) and the youngest child named Ragil (toddler).
In the early pages of the novel, a tragedy hapenned to their family.
One day, father and gadis were not at home. Fathers work, while gadis is go to school. Bagus is playing alone in his room, and mother is with Ragil on the second floor balcony. When mom is busy with her cellphone, opening social media, talking online with her fans. Without realizing it, Ragil had climbed up to the balcony railing. In seconds, before mom's hand could reach him, he fell down. At the same time, there a maid who was carrying a clothes basket. And Ragil fell on top of him, into the clothes basket. At that time the mother was very panicked and scared, immediately run to the first floor to see the condition of her youngest child. As soon as they arrived, the mother immediately cried hysterically and hugged her youngest child. He felt very guilty for what happened that day. Gadis and dad, who came home sooner, immediately calmed down the hysterical and guilty mother.
So, that was the turning point in their lives.
Since then, their family decided to move to a new house (villa) which is located in a village, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Dad decided to distance himself from work, and do all the work online. And mother also decided not to use her cellphone, until Ragil was already at school.
Hearing that decision, Gadis (our main character) felt very happy and relieved. In an instant, they immediately moved and socialized with the villager there. Because there was no kindergarten in the village, so Bagus did not go to school.
They also decided not to use housekeepers anymore. Therefore, starting from cleaning the house to cooking, everything is done by the mother. And of course dad helped out, such as fixing the water flow, roof tiles, painting fences and so on.
To be honest, from the falling Ragil incident sheet, to the mid-novel sheet. All are filled with their peaceful and serene family life. Gadis go to school with enthusiasm, playing her new friends. Father and mother are always at home, preparing food and every day they always have dinner together. Chatting about what they did today, joking around, and grumbling at his annoyance. Two months passed very peacefully.
After two months, irregularities began to appear in the house and their family.
The first incident, hapens at night, Gadis hadn't slept and found the sound of dripping water on the second floor.
Oh yeah, I haven't told you about that yet. So their new villa/house has 2 floors. However, because her mother had a trauma from yesterday's incident, the second floor was not used and was left empty.
So, back on topic. After hearing the sound of dripping water, Gadis decided to check up (second floor). to check if there is a leak, or something like that. when I read that part, I really got goosebumps. At that time, I realized that the novel I was reading was a horror genre novel. At that time I felt that something would happen to Gadis, but apparently nothing happened.
After Gadis went upstairs, and found no sign of a leak anywhere, Gadis returned downstairs safely. I don't know whether to be grateful or disappointed, actually.
the second event, are the attitude of the father and mother changed. the father, who from the beginning moved only to work online, slowly started go and was not at home. Mother also began to return to holding her cell phone. mom is having fun again with 'dunia maya', once she even forgot to cook breakfast. the dining table atmosphere is not same anymore. father who was busy working in the capital had to skip dinner. Mom is always cool with her cellphone. Gadis, Bagus, and Ragil really feel the difference.
the third event, is when both parents really returned to the time when they had not moved house. dad goes to work. Mother left too, deciding to take on the role she had always wanted so badly. In the villa house, in the middle of the wilderness, there are only 3 small children and no adult supervision at all. because there were no housekeepers at home, Gadis who was in grade 6 at that time took care of the house and her younger siblings (I really admire this girls, I wish I could have her attitude even a little. If I were in her position, I would really be angry with that change. even though her parents had promised to focus on their three children so that they went to school. but they denied it. i was really annoyed).
when Gadis finished cooking lunch alone, she called her two younger siblings to eat. Ragil is in the room, playing with the toy car. while Bagus, Gadis let him play on the terrace because Bagus asked, but now he's MISSING!
Gadis is very-very panic. he searched all over the yard, terrace, even forest around the house, but still could not be found. And then, she took her bicycle, carried Ragil on his back and rode off to the village to find his brother and ask for help.
the sympathetic villagers joined in looking for Bagus. there were also some villagers who started whispering worries about mystical things. After several hours of searching, Gadis was told to return home to rest and to contact her parents by the head of the village. Gadis complied.
father and mother came when it was late at night, mother was swollen with tears and dad looks tired. The head of village immediately explained what had happened. Thankfully, mom and dad don't blame Gadis for that tragedy (if they do, I'm mad). they apologized to Gadis instead.
because it was late, the search was temporarily stopped on the grounds that it was dangerous. father and mother could not go against the village head. father, mother return to their rooms, likewise with Gadis and Ragil.
well, in the middle of the night, Gadis heard again the sound of water dripping above her room. again, the girl returned to the second floor, and to her surprise she found the little brother she had been looking for, lying in one of the rooms on the second floor. She hurriedly woke up her brother, and made sure that her brother was okay.
Bagus was aware, he hugged her sister out of fear. Bagus to tell what happened this afternoon to Gadis. while playing on the front porch, Bagus hear the dripping water from the second floor. he went up to the second floor, and saw a very bright light enveloped him. An then, he moved the world.
The foreign world was very similar to the current world, but there was no father, mother, Gadis , and Ragil there. no villagers either, all empty. Due to exhaustion, Bagus decided to return to the second floor of the building, and then fell asleep there until Gadis wake him up.
Bagus also says strange things, he says that mom and dad are downstairs, it's not their real their mom and dad. they are just imitations. Gadis very confused. at the same time, father and mother who heard a noise on the second floor, woke up and decided to check what was going on. they were very happy to find their son.
but not with Bagus, he screamed in fear telling his parents to leave. although forced, he dodged and increasingly hysterical away from father and mother. mother cried again, guilt overwhelm her.
Gadis immediately intervened between the two. Gadis brought Bagus to sleep together in her room, and forbade her parents to meet Bagus for a while.
after that incident, Bagus never once came out of his room, he also locked his room. he only opens it for Gadis and Ragil. he also only eats the food that Gadis make and brings him, he does not eat food made by his mother at all.
seeing their son's behavior, the father and mother decided to call a professional psychiatrist from the capital, her name was 'sesuk'. yeah, the story is getting more exciting right?!
this doctor make Bagus join rehabilitation program for a few months. She diagnoses that bagus have some kind of trauma or shock caused by the rapid change of his parents. During the rehabilitation period, Bagus experienced a lot of progress (slowly, of course). slowly, he started not avoiding his parents, he no again screamed hysterically when he saw his parents, he also no locked his room, and he also started eating the food made by his mother. father and mother are very happy with the progress.
but Gadis knows, the way Bagus looking at their parents hasn't changed at all. Bagus only realized that the two parents in disguise were harmless and had no intention of harming him. so he acted as usual to his father and mother. but Gadis is even more worried, she feels strange with the doctor all this time. starting from his habit of never changing his style of clothing, etc.
well, at the same time. Since the incident of bagus disappearance, many strange phenomena have occurred in the village. and everything happens sequentially. The first strange phenomenon is the appearance of a boy who roams the village. unknown origin and who the boy was. which is certain, the physique is very similar to Bagus. the second phenomenon is the death of the villagers' goats and sheep without any external injuries. the third, the water of the reservoir that turned Color like blood red, the fourth, the color of the leaves turning red on the haunted tree in the village. the fourth phenomenon is the death of all the birds that fly across the village and fall like rain, and the last strange phenomenon is the death of 1 family at the end of the village. after that last phenomenon, the villagers had agreed that the cause of all this was Bagus. the villagers consider is Bagus to be possessed by the spirit of the child of their ancestor who terrorized their village decades ago. (if told it would be long, so its something like that.
villagers flocked to their homes, carrying flaming torches, spears, and so on. of course the village head had tried to detain the villagers, but yeah, he failed. The village head came to their villa, and immediately warned them to leave immediately because the angry villagers were on their way to kick them out.
but it was too late, the fire slowly devoured their home. this event, is nearing the last page. you ask questions right? where is the horror event? same, I also asked questions like that at first.
All the weird stuff going on, gadis felt was finally answered. the doctor, who was at home at the time, asked the girl to go to the second floor. doctor Sesuk, promises his family's will safety if the girl is willing to follow him. because there was no other choice and she was desperate (at that time, all his family members fainted because of the smoke) the girl complied.
So, at that time, the doctor sesuk explained everything. all the strange phenomena that have been happening in the village, are nothing more than scientific events. those science events happen frequently because time portals also frequently open. The time portal occurs on the second floor, and the signs of the time portal open are when water drops are heard. Yes, right. CONGRATS GUYS! You guys are fooled by the genre of this book!

Well, I'll continue. So, this doctor is from the future. that's why his style of dress never changes, because he is a robot! made by Bagus in the future! he came to the past, because the robots of the future depend on Bagus thoughts of the present (in the past). he had a trauma to his parents and had a big impact on his life's work (the robot). so in short, if the current good thinking is good. then the robots he made in the future will be good. also applies vice versa, if the current good thinking is bad, then the future robot will be evil and it will be the end of the earth.
Oh yes, father mother and Ragil are also robots made by a doctor in the future. if dad, mom and Ragil are robots, then where are the real ones?
the real one died at the start of the chapter. when Ragil falls from the balcony. true incident, ragil really fell from the balcony and died. his mother, who at that time witnessed the death of her youngest child, was completely shocked and hysterical. mom took a gun (out of nowhere, yes, i know) and shot herself in the head right then. the father who came home later was shocked to find the news that his youngest child had died and his wife had committed suicide. Not long after, the father also committed suicide following his wife and child. I don't know the continuation of the story, whether Gadis also survive or only bagus survive. but that event left a deep mark on Bagus memory of the future. that's why doctor Sesuk have to go back in time to change all that. so it's good to have a happy childhood with his family.
after the series of deaths occurred, the doctor sesuk sent 4 robots to change the storyline that day. There are his mother's robot, his father's robot, Ragil's robot, and the housemaid's robot who saves Ragil right when Ragil falls. they create a scene, as a result, because the robots change the storyline, even though father, mother and Ragil actually still die that day.
please rest first and digest all the info you get. I also have to digest this conclusion for a few minutes because the ending of this story is really a plot twist.
So, yeah, do you understand? so you could say, the protagonist of this novel is Bagus . Gadis is just a small variable that changes the future. however, in contrast to the thoughts of doctor Sesuk (after months of observing their family), Gadis are great big sister figures who respect and love more than his parents. because of that, at the end of the novel, doctor sesuk begs for Gadis help to help and continue to accompany Bagus in his growth and development.
Well, unfortunately, like any novel by Tereliye in general (hanging ending), the girl answer is not included in the book. on the last page of the novel it is only told that Gadis saw her diary book which means she really is repeating her life (or maybe going back to the past) and she has lost her memory.
