Happy Eid Mubarak!

Assalamu'alaikum everyone. sorry I'm late in saying this, however, happy Eid guys! Minal aidzin wal faidzin! Wishing you a joyous Eid al-Fitr! May Allah's blessings bring you happiness and prosperity. Aamiin ya Allah ya rabbal'alamin.

how do you do, mate? hehe. maybe it's a bit late (because the holiday season is still very much felt, so I need to collect 'niat' first to make this blog), but now, I want to tell you about my experience coming back to my village in the month of Ramadan this year.

As we know, because of the Covid-19 disaster in recent years, my family, who is quite aware of this, has been forced to lock up at home even during major holidays. we didn't even go back and forth, we didn't even dare to open the door of our house for relatives who came. (because of fear of his children contracting covid). therefore, because now the covid virus has subsided enough, we are going homecoming! yeayy!

So, just for starters, because maybe you don't know yet, that I'm actually a mixed blood between Sundanese and Lampung tribes! my mother is from Lampung, and my father is from Bandung (Sunda). it may not be visible, but that's the truth hahaha.

well, as I said earlier, our family and I decided to return to our mother's hometown, yeah that is Lampung. but because of my father's busy work, we could only stay 3 days and 2 nights there. thats not big problem, actually.

we set off from home, on thursday evening. from home, we ordered a grab car to the leuwipanjang bus terminal in bandung. from there, we took the bus until we arrived at the port of Merak in Banten. and the bus ride back then took about 3 hours, i think. after that, we boarded a ship to the island of sumatra. it was my first experience on a ship after not going home to Lampung for the last few years, due to covid of course. the trip took around 3 hours.

after boarding the ship, we need to take the bus again. because my grandmother's house, more precisely located in Bandar Lampung. and this trip is quite long, takes about 6 hours. we arrived at grandma's house in the morning, around 9 am. after being greeted by my grandmother, aunt, uncle, nephew etc (big family), then cleaning myself, I immediately fell asleep until late afternoon. and while I was asleep, my extended family went to visit my aunt who was sick at her house (still in the Lampung area).

as soon as I woke up, all family members had gone home and were eating together in the dining room. I immediately join them, eat together. That night, I can't sleeping because I had slept earlier that day. so I'm bored, and a little regretful for deciding not to bring assignments. At that time, I just realized that Lampung is very, very hot. I sweat a lot even though I'm just lying on the bed. 2 fans are not enough to make me stop sweating, even showering many times at night doesn't work to make my skin fresh. because of that, i think we should be grateful because we live in bandung with cool cold air and fresh clean water.

The next day, which is Friday, the first day of Eid, we pray Eid near our house. after the prayer, we decided to do a family photo together before the guests started to arrive. here are the photos !

(big family photo on the first day of Eid)

lots of guests arriving, such as neighbors, distant relatives, close relatives, and other relatives who arrived late. towards noon, the guests who arrived started a little. we spent time in the living room together chatting. we talked about my cousin who was going to college, my aunt who was sick, and even talked about me and some of my cousins who both loved drawing. at that time I just realized, there were two of my family (two aunts) who were unable to come to Lampung. even so, my family is still fun and lively as if there is no shortage of even one member. ang then, the day went very fast.

Saturday, the second Eid, more and more are already present, here are the photos:

(can you find, where am I?)

On the second day of Eid, we made a pilgrimage to grandpa's grave. after returning from the pilgrimage, we also had time to visit relatives' homes before returning home. I chat a lot with my cousins, especially those who have the same hobby as me. Besides drawings, we also talked a lot about novels, comics, kpop and even anime. I'm glad we have some interests in common. I even lent him two novels that I wanted! My cousin is the best!

In the afternoon, we help our aunts in the kitchen. Today's menu is satay. I helped grill the satay and wash the dishes used to eat. the satay we made was selling well, it was gone. ole because of that, for dinner, we were forced to cook again. that night we ate opor ayam and nasi uduk. while in Lampung I learned a lot to cook.

i don't realize, Sunday is coming soon. Even though Idul Fitri has passed, there are still some relatives who come, so it feels like the house is never empty. but unfortunately, when the afternoon came, my little family had to get ready to go home. after having dinner for the last time, and saying goodbye, we were escorted by my 2nd uncle to the bus terminal in Lampung (I forgot the name of the place hehe).

so with that, my day home is over. return trip, surprisingly much faster on the way back and forth. guess we take 10 hours drive. until home, again we are a broken family. fell asleep until late afternoon.

even though my family only stayed 3 days, but it was really a very pleasant experience, I don't mind if Eid next year, we go to Lampung again. (btw, I also got a decent amount of THR, around 300 thousand. what about you?)

thanks for listening! have a nice day, guys!
